Precious

So I went to see Preious and it was such a great film. Its directed by Lee Daniels based on the Story Push by Sapphire. Basically its about an obese teen names Clarise Precious Jones who is illiterate and pregnant with her second child by age 16. She enrolls in this alternative school with hopes to better herself and gain a better education but she has to deal with an abusive mother on top of all these other issues.
This movie was extremely real and heartfelt. It was a moving film that kept my eyes glued to the screen the entire time.It was so sad to see her experience all of the things she did and it definately makes you appreciate your own life and family. I think one of the messages was definately to perservere no matter what. Despite the odds and obstacles, you don't have to give up.I must say the entire cast did a great job and Monique really shocked me with the phenomenal job she did...Finally a movie worth my $10.00 lol if you havent seen it, go!

The visitor

I watched the visitor yesterday and it was very interesting. In essence, the movie is about this older man who lost his wife and leads a pretty lonely and depressing lifestyle. He writes books and teaches but he doesn't have any fun or any friends. Fate would have him to meet this couple who is ironically living in his second home, located in the city and he allows them to stay there and eventually creates a close relationship with them. But ofcourse the movie does not end there. The police find out that the guy in the relationship is an immigrant and he gets sent to a detention center. His girlfriend, the older man and his mom (who comes to visit) all try to support him but he gets deported.
The movie was supposed to instill a sense of sympathy and frustration about the bigatry and the unnecessary treatment, immigrants or foreigners have had to face since 9-11. The acting was pretty good but overall the movie was just decent. Great concept but a terrible ending and some parts were just corny.

Male Athlete Cheater of the Month: Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods, a cheater? Apparently so...the last week has had its outpouring about the infidelities concerning Tiger Woods and his wife Elin. Jaimee Grubbs, known for her place on the Vh1 reality show "Tool Academy", released some sex text messages to the press as well as a message that is supposedly Tiger pleading with her to take her name off of her voicemail just incase his wife calls. Now, Tiger and his wife have entered counseling and revisited their pre-nupt agreement(smh)
When will our male athletes learn? You know if your famous, there will be women coming after you. Whether they want you because your sexy, gifted or the prime reason, that money, they're coming after you. So be smarter fellas, either stay single or be willing to stay commited because being on the fence will just get you in trouble!
